Google last week introduced Gemini 3.8 Live, and now the company is taking a step further by launching Gemini 3.8 Live with Live Avatar, which brings real-time visual presence to its native live dialogue models. Announced on September 24, 2026, the feature pairs real-time video generation with speech, allowing AI agents to listen, see, speak, and respond through dynamic visual avatars. It is now generally available through Gemini Enterprise.

With precise lip-syncing, natural expressions, and fluid turn-taking, Live Avatar enables enterprises to expand their virtual products interactively.
As per the company’s statement, “Conversation is inherently multimodal: We listen, look, speak, and use facial expressions to communicate.” Live Avatar features bring these capabilities to enterprise agents. It combines audio and visual inputs simultaneously. This enables more engaging conversations, which could be ideal for applications such as customer support, virtual assistants, and more.
Next-Level Reasoning and 97-Language Support
Another key capability beyond visual presence is Gemini’s advanced reasoning. With asynchronous tool calling, Live Avatar can retrieve information in the background while continuing the conversation and handle complex tasks without interrupting the ongoing interactions.
The platform also features native multilingual speech-to-speech synchronization. It targets global businesses with multilingual support across 97 languages. Gemini 3.8 Live with Live Avatar can adapt its lip-sync and expressions across these without reducing video fidelity or introducing visual drift.
Custom Avatars That Match Your Brand
A key feature is that organizations need a visual identity that fits their brand. Live avatars make this possible. Alongside the library of diverse, preset avatars, organizations can customize their Live Avatars. Each avatar comes with a high-quality reference image that lets developers create an animated, responsive avatar while maintaining likeness, brand styling, or character identity. Google has designed Live Avatar with safeguards that respect identity and keep AI-generated content transparent. AI-generated output is watermarked with SynthID imperceptible watermarks, woven into the audio and video, reducing the risk of misinformation and misattribution.
