Google Ads has launched new Search and AI Max testing and planning tools for advertisers. These features give advertisers more control over how they test campaign changes before applying them broadly.
The new experimentation and planning updates are focused on Search Campaigns and AI Max, with new options for testing budgets, ROI, bidding strategies, and campaign controls.
Google said in its announcement, “Rolling out in September, this will help you see exactly how scaling up your campaigns impacts your bottom line.”
Multi-Campaign A/B Testing Coming in September
One of the significant updates is multi-campaign A/B testing, which Google is planning to roll out in September. Advertisers will be able to test different budgets and ROI target changes across multiple Search campaigns in a single A/B test.
This could help businesses better understand how large-scale changes impact overall campaign performance without making changes to campaigns individually.
AI Max Experiments Adds Brand and Location Controls
Google is also removing restrictions on how advertisers can test AI Max for Search campaigns, making it more flexible. New AI Max experiments will now support tests with brand and location controls enabled. This way, advertisers can measure AI Max’s impact while maintaining their brand and geographic location.
Performance Planner Allows Advertisers to Make Campaign Changes in a Single Click
Another update lets you see how changes like bidding or budget targets may impact your existing campaign performance. In a single click, you can apply those suggested changes directly to your campaigns.
Before implementing a plan, advertisers can review the proposed changes at the campaign level and exclude any campaigns they don’t want to update. Advertisers can also monitor the changes implemented via Bulk Actions in Google Ads, with the option to cancel if required.
What Does the Update Mean for Advertisers?
Overall, Google’s new Search and AI Max testing tool and planning updates offer advertisers automated features alongside built-in experimentation and forecasting capabilities within their accounts. This way, they can make well-informed decisions using their own campaign data to determine which changes to adopt and where current strategies can perform well.
