Google has recently added a new AI-powered video creation tool in Google Vids with the integration of Gemini Omni. The new tool is available to Google or Google Workspace account users for free. The update brings Gemini Omni 1.1 Flash into Vids with additional creative controls.
Google has announced regarding the expanded access on September 23, 2026, alongside the assurance that users can create 1080p HD videos without having any editing experience. This feature can be accessed through Google Vids on the desktop. Users can get started by visiting vids.new and selecting Create AI videos. One of the noteworthy points is that Google has also added ready-made templates for different video creation goals.
Gemini Omni in Google Vids Adds More Control Over AI Videos
The Gemini Omni integration in Google Vids extends beyond simple text-to-video generation. Users get more control over Gemini Omni 1.1 Flash for individual scenes, and they can set durations for generated clips.
This allows clips to match a planned storyline or voiceover. They can also extend existing scenes while maintaining visual elements.
According to Google, the scene extension feature preserves the lighting, characters, environment, and visual context of existing scenes. Users can also generate new scenes in 1080p HD, while existing AI clips can be upscaled to fit the timeline.
The tools support a range of common video creation tasks, like product promotions, social announcements and event signage. The company also plans another audio-focused update. Gemini 3.8 Flash-Lite text-to-speech will soon arrive on Google Vids. This future integration will support natural-sounding voiceovers across more than 100 languages.
