Google has introduced Search Profiles, a new way designed to help creators and publishers enhance their presence on Search and improve engagement with content from multiple platforms.
Like the social media platforms that allows users to build a presence, “Search Profiles provide a dedicated, shareable profile that highlights content across platforms and helps audiences find up-to-date information about sources on Search,” as mentioned in Google’s official announcement.
A Centralized Hub for Creators and Publishers
Search Profiles acts as a centralized hub wherein publishers and creators can showcase their latest articles, videos, social media posts, and other content.
Users can access profiles on mobile devices via creators or publishers’ Knowledge Panels. This can be done by tapping the publisher’s name in Google Discover or through a direct URL. Eligible users can claim their Search Profile and add customizable elements, such as a biography, avatar, website links, social media, video platform, and other featured content.
According to Google, “Claiming a profile can trigger the creation of a knowledge panel for eligible publishers and creators. If you have a knowledge panel already, it will be enhanced with your updated avatar, latest content, and a direct profile link.”
Eligibility Criteria for Google Search Profiles:
To qualify for Search Profiles, creators and publishers must meet the requirements below. Minimum number of subscribers or followers on at least one of the following platforms:
- YouTube: 100,000
- X: 100,000
- Instagram: 100,000
- TikTok: 300,000
- Must be 18 years old.
- The content you aim to publish should meet Google’s guidelines.
It is also important to check whether Google has already created your Search Profiles based on your online presence.
