OpenAI, the top player in the AI industry, announced a new feature, named “ChatGPT Pulse,” that aims to provide personalized daily reports when users are offline. ChatGPT is shifting its approach from being reactive to being a proactive digital assistant that operates asynchronously and prepares all the necessary information beforehand, rather than waiting for prompts.
Users’ mornings will now start with ChatGPT, rather than scrolling through social media apps.
The pulse feature offers 5 to 10 briefs that can help them boost their daily activities.
The brand-new feature is initially available to subscribers of the $ 200/mo. Pro plan and appears as a new tab in the ChatGPT app. The briefs are received every morning and displayed as visually rich cards that give a summary of news, personal updates, or recommendations. Every report you get has links to the sources and can be expanded to browse in-depth information.
The following are some of the examples of the Pulse from OpenAI’s demo:
- A news update on a favorite sports team.
- Group Halloween costume ideas for family.
- A toddler-friendly travel itinerary.
According to a statement from the CEO of Applications at OpenAI, Fidji Simo, in a blog post, he explains Pulse as one step forward in the AI realm: “We’re building AI that lets us take the level of support that only the wealthiest have been able to afford and make it available to everyone over time.”
Similarly, Sam Altman confirmed on X that compute-intensive features, such as Pulse, will be initially restricted to premium plan users due to infrastructure limitations. However, gradual expansion will take place as efficiency is enhanced.
One of the fantastic parts of Pulse is that it starts after generating a few reports and then gives a message saying, “Great, that’s it for today.”
Pulse also works well with Gmail, Google Calendar, and ChatGPT’s memory features, which even focus on draft agendas, urgent emails, or generate personalized suggestions based on a user’s past behavior. Open AI’s personalization lead, Wadsworth Kaplan, gave an example: It can suggest running routes for fitness lovers and or even filter dinner menus according to the diet preferences.
Will Pulse Replace Traditional Media?
Alongside, she describes it as a “net-new functionality” that combines insights, context, and personalization. The company is clear about its motto, which is to cite its sources and be here to help current media, such as the news. And not to go beyond the traditional platform.
What’s Ahead of ChatGPT Pulse?
This move indicates ChatGPT’s broader aim of making it an agentic AI assistant that not only helps answer questions but also understands users’ needs and plans their daily routine. OpenAI consistently stays a step ahead of its competitors in the AI space, introducing new enhancements for users. Morning has never been leisurely; however, the Pulse feature is here to make it a breeze!
