Apple’s Siri AI Debuts with Next-Gen Capabilities at WWDC 2026

Apple on Monday, 8 June 2026 introduced Siri AI, a completely new version of Siri, at its Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2026. Siri AI is a conversational assistant that comes with next-gen Apple Intelligence, knowledge, and capabilities for users.

Alongside, Apple AI-powered Siri, the tech company announced a set of features for trust and safety to help parents create a safe digital experience for kids, alongside improvements in software design and performance, iOS 27, iPadOS 27, macOS 27, watchOS 27, visionOS 27, and tvOS 27.

This marks Cook’s final WWDC keynote before he steps down as CEO in September, handling the role to John Ternus, Apple’s SVP of Hardware Engineering. Yet, the Siri AI marks Apple’s strongest response to growing competition with AI leaders such as Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, and Meta.

Siri AI: A New and Enhanced Digital Assistant for Users

The new Siri AI is designed to be a more capable, conversational, and context-aware assistant. It comes with broad world knowledge and onscreen awareness. Users can find the information they need, ask questions on any topic, and understand what’s displayed on the screen. It surfaces the relevant information from the user’s personal messages, photos, calendars, emails, and more. Siri AI is powered

Siri AI is powered in part through Apple’s collaboration with Google and the Gemini family of models.

As stated by Craig Federighi, Apple’s Senior Vice President of Software Engineering, “We’re excited to introduce Siri AI, a dramatically more capable and conversational assistant designed to help users find information and get things done throughout the day.”

Siri AI comes with some of the noteworthy enhancements as mentioned below:

  • When users need to check past conversations or start a new one, they can open the new Siri app.
  • It comes with writing tools to allow users to write with Siri AI.
  • It’s built with AI at its core, and architecture based on Apple Intelligence.

Apple emphasized that privacy remains the key factor. The company confirmed that Siri AI is built on an architecture that protects user data and does not retain personal interactions. It also deletes the personal information after use.

Parental Control for Child Safety and Screen Time Updates

Apple has focused on kids’ safety when using digital devices. The company has announced Child Accounts for Apple’s devices. With this, parents can manage what their kids can see, with whom they can talk, and when they have access to apps. By starting with a child’s account, parents can enable age-appropriate protections across the system.

Alongside, the most important part is Screen Time. With the new tools, parents can set daily screen time limits for Entertainment, Games, and social apps. Redesigned dashboards help parents better understand kids’ device habits.

New AI Features Across Apple’s Ecosystem

The company has also introduced iOS 27, iPadOS 27, macOS 27, watchOS 27, visionOS 27, and tvOS 27. It has expanded AI capabilities across its ecosystem, including AI-generated reminders and notes, an image playground, and advanced visual recognition features. Apple has also redefined its Liquid Glass language design by adding controls that let users adjust to transparency levels.

Availability and Industry Impact

Despite the benefits, Siri AI will initially be in beta with supported devices and language set to English. Availability in the EU and China will be later due to regulatory challenges. Apple Intelligence and Siri AI in iOS 27 are available on iPhone 16 models or later, as well as iPhone 15 Pro, and iPhone 15 Pro Max, among other devices.

Overall, WWDC 2026 clearly signals Apple’s approach to standing at the forefront of the AI race. It simply goes beyond a chatbot experience and embeds intelligent capabilities through its complete hardware and software ecosystem.
