OpenAI is pushing boundaries in the competitive tech space. The company is now working on developing a new desktop “superapp” that merges its main products, including ChatGPT, the coding app Codex, and the AI-powered browser Atlas, into a single desktop app.
One of the spokespersons told the publications that Fidgi Simo, the CEO of Applications at OpenAI with support from Greg Brockman, will oversee the complete revamp of the product. Alongside development, Simo will also help the sales and marketing teams promote the product.

With this standout desktop app, OpenAI aims to streamline user experience, improve productivity, and reduce fragmentation across the company’s multiple tools. Users can interact with an AI chatbot, start coding, and engage in web development, all under one roof.
Simo posted on X, saying, “Companies go through phases of exploration and phases of refocus; both are critical. But when new bets start to work, like we’re now seeing with Codex, it’s important to double down on them and avoid distractions.” As OpenAI is spreading its efforts across many apps and stacks, making it difficult to maintain the quality standards, she stated.

The new superapp is part of OpenAI’s strategy to consolidate its main AI tools into a unified environment that allows users to switch easily between chat, coding, and browsing without juggling multiple apps.
