Apple and Google come into a partnership to redefine the next generation of AI models and technology. The collaboration aims at strengthening the Apple Foundation Models with Google’s Gemini and cloud solutions. Apple considers Google’s AI technology as the most capable foundation for its Foundation models.
Apple believes that Google’s AI and cloud technologies will advance the Apple Intelligence features, alongside making the voice assistant, Siri, more personalized. Siri’s next update is expected to be announced later this year.
What Does the Partnership Mean?
Apple and Google’s multi-layer collaboration is set to lay a solid base for Apple’s Foundation Models and AI features. Apple shares that its models will keep running on users’ devices and on its Private Cloud Compute systems. The company maintains its ‘industry-leading privacy standards’, in this regard.
Neither Apple nor Google has disclosed the financial agreements of the partnership. A previous report, published in November 2025, unveiled that Apple was in talks to pay $1 billion annually to Google while accessing its AI capabilities. However, the financial figures of the final agreement remain undisclosed.
As per the joint statement of both companies, “Apple and Google have entered into a multi-year collaboration under which the next generation of Apple Foundation Models will be based on Google’s Gemini models and cloud technology…”
Concerns for OpenAI!
Apple is already in collaboration with OpenAI and is integrating ChatGPT into Apple Intelligence and Siri. ChatGPT, with its in-depth knowledge base and reasoning capabilities, enables Siri to easily address complex queries. Apple revealed that its partnership with OpenAI is not changing as of now.
Experts hint at an end-of-agreement between Apple and OpenAI. However, OpenAI has not responded to Apple’s revelations and other speculations yet.
